Alison R. Scholle

Vice President, Wealth Management Tax Manager

Alison is responsible for providing technical tax support on a wide range of tax planning and analysis topics at Washington Trust Wealth Management. She focuses on complex estate, gift and GSTT matters, manages the outsourcing of fiduciary tax preparation, and advises team members on meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. She also performs post-mortem tax planning analysis including, but not limited to, implementation of the §645 election, alternate valuation election, fiscal year end selection, timing of estate expenses and collection of tax deferred assets, valuation discounts, and disclaimers for overall tax minimization.

Experience

Alison has more than 20 years of experience in wealth management roles with a deep subject matter expertise in estate, gift, inheritance, and fiduciary income tax preparation. Prior to joining Washington Trust, Alison spent 15 years with Bank of America as an estate, gift, and inheritance tax preparer and subject matter expert for Estate Settlement Services, Regional Fiduciary Officers, Trust Administration, Wealth Strategies, and Wealth Management.

Education

Alison holds an associate’s degree from the Community College of Rhode Island.

Community Involvement

A Rhode Island resident, Alison is involved with several animal welfare and rescue programs in the Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts region.
