Alison R. Scholle

Vice President, Wealth Management Tax Manager

ROLE

Alison manages fiduciary tax preparation outsourcing, meeting regulatory and compliance requirements, and providing subject matter expertise. She brings with her more than 20 years of estate, gift, inheritance, and fiduciary income tax preparation experience. She provides technical tax support for Washington Trust professionals and clients with a focus on complex estate, gift, and GSTT matters. She also performs post-mortem tax planning analysis including, but not limited to, implementation of the §645 election, alternate valuation election, fiscal year end selection, timing of estate expenses and collection of tax deferred assets, valuation discounts, and disclaimers for overall tax minimization.

EXPERIENCE

Alison joined Washington Trust after 15 years at Bank of America, as an estate, gift, and inheritance tax preparer and subject matter expert for Estate Settlement Services, Regional Fiduciary Officers, Trust Administration, Wealth Strategies, and Wealth Management. Prior to that, she was a Senior Tax Accountant, specializing in complicated fiduciary income tax preparation, at KPMG LLP for 5 years.

EDUCATION

Alison holds an associate degree in accounting from the Community College of Rhode Island and is an Enrolled Agent.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Alison is involved with animal welfare and rescue programs in the Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts region.
