Stephen C. Poplaski, PhD, CPA, CFP® oversees a team that aids clients in comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and income tax planning for individuals and businesses. Stephen’s training and experience focuses on behavioral finance and aims to assist clients’ navigation of cognitive biases and emotions that influence financial decision-making.
Stephen operated his own local public accounting firm before establishing Lighthouse Financial Management, LLC, a registered wealth advisory firm that offered investment, income tax and all-inclusive financial planning services. After operating independently for more than 20 years, his firm joined Washington Trust Wealth Management in 2025.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, a Master of Business Administration in Finance, and a Ph.D. in Personal Finance.
He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner® practitioner.
Stephen provides strategic planning for nonprofit enterprises and has served as chair of the finance committee for a local Christian church.
Stephen has taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in personal financial planning, corporate analysis and valuation, individual income tax, and applied behavioral finance. He served as the director of the CFP Board Registered Financial Planning Program at Johnson & Wales University, a member of the education committee for the National Board at NAFPA, and a peer reviewer for the editorial review board for the "Journal of Financial Planning."
