Joanne Speroni-Woody, CTFA

Vice President and Principal Trust Officer

ROLE

Joanne is responsible for the administration of decedent estates, trusts of high-net-worth clients and relationships for not-for-profit organizations to help them achieve their legacy and financial goals.

EXPERIENCE

Joanne has been a Trust and Estate Services professional in Providence for more than thirty years. Before joining Washington Trust, she worked as a Banking Officer for BankBoston from 1984 through 1988 and Vice President, Trust and Estate Administrator for Fleet National Bank through 2001. She took on that same role at Citizens Bank from 2002 through 2013. After acting as Trust and Estates Manager for Brown University from 2013-2015, Joanne joined Washington Trust.

EDUCATION

Joanne holds her B.A. with honors and M.Ed. from Providence College. Her professional studies include graduation from the ABA National Graduate Trust School and the New England School of Banking where she was a recipient of the Norman T. Shepard Award for Academic Excellence. She holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

She currently serves as a member of the President’s Council at Providence College, the Secretary of the Advisory Board of the Catholic Foundation of RI, a member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Catholic Diocese of Providence, on the Finance Council for St. John Vianney Church, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Estate Planning Council of RI where she also chairs the Program Planning Committee. She previously served as President of the Board for the Partnership of Philanthropic Planning of RI, President of the National Alumni Association Council for Providence College, and past co-chair of the Catholic Charities Fund Appeal for RI.
